Activities

The Club has a range of activities on offer, the most popular being guided town and country walks and visits to places of interest.

Country or coastal walks are a very popular activity with members and guests, these walks usually involve a late morning stroll of about 3 miles in the Hampshire or Sussex region followed by a fine lunch and pleasant conversation at a pub situated near the starting point of the walk. Another popular activity is where members and guests are taken on a guided 2 hour walking tour of Hampshire or Sussex cities, towns and villages. These morning walks blend exercise with local history and places of interest all followed by a fine pub lunch.

Visits is another popular activity with members. In general four visits are arranged during each session of the Club and include places of interest and topicality within a radius of about 30 miles form Petersfield in order not to involve too much travelling. Club members usually invite their partners, family and friends for a very pleasant experience.

A sixty minute Talk by a guest Speaker or Club member on an interesting and topical subject is given at each Club meeting prior to lunch. There are usually nine Talks given in the Club’s annual session.

Donations to Good Causes:

An important activity of the Club is making donations to good causes. All money received from the membership through subscription and raffles which is surplus to operating costs is generally donated to good causes, this has enabled the Club to donate more than £4000 in the last 5 years.

Each year the Chairman selects one or two good causes and usually these are local charities. Recent donations have been made to The Rosemary Foundation, The Kings Arms Project and Rowans Hospice.
